15-year-old students homemade AirPods at home for 4 USD
A 15-year-old boy made his AirPods work from two old headphones and glue guns. AirPods are the most notable true wireless headphones on the market today. However, its price is really a big barrier for many people, including Sam Cashbook. “I started this project about two months before my friend had a couple of new AirPods on his birthday, I thought I could make this expensive item myself at home,” the 15-year-old student texted. on Reddit. Cashbook began watching videos of AirPods themselves, but mostly saw people cut the strings out of Earbud as a joke. He decided to implement his own method. Sam Cashbook bought an old bone conduction headset on eBay and separated the shell, revealing the entire component inside. Then connect the audio cable to the speaker of the old Earbud. “I changed the batteries bigger and used glue guns to put them together (this is definitely not the best way),” the Cashbook describes how to do it. The homemade headset looks a bit ugly but it works really well, with both the power key, volume up and down, pause music playback and rechargeable battery. “This project is really interesting and only costs me about 4 USD, which helps me improve welding skills for small components”, Cashbook said “I encourage people to do great things like this”.
